Contrary to popular belief weight is not the most critical factor as far as downward pressure is concerned on the back of a horse. Fit is!
Big saddles are necessarily longer which gives them increasingly more contact area thus lowering the PSI — pounds per square inch. If the saddle fits well there is no problem.
If it does not fit it can be a major problem because the PSI on the limited area of contact would be dangerously high.
